By percentage of fat, there are single cream (light cream) and double cream (heavy cream). Single cream looks more like milk, while double cream looks very thick.

Sour cream is lighter than single cream, tastes like yogurt but without any flavour.

There is a special kind of cream called whipping cream. It is usually whipped for cakes and desserts.

Classic Dishes

British & American

  1. Cream of mushroom soup: fry mushrooms with diced onion and mince garlic. Add white sauce, cream, and chicken stock. Cook and blended. Preserve some mushrooms for garnish.

Italian

  1. Creamy Pasta: bacons or chickens, double cream and button mushroom pasta.

Purchase Advice

In China, cream is usually sold online and mostly whipping cream.
